As part of our Changing Earth Unit students gained new knowledge regarding the changes of the Earth and how volcanoes are formed.

Each class created their own volcano independently using a salt dough recipe, a recycled plastic bottle and a recycled box. Students created their own recipes to design an experiment and observe the changes to the surface of the Earth when a volcano erupts. Students were given water, vinegar and sodium carbonate to create a volcano explosion. They used different amounts of each ingredient and experimented with water temperature to explore how the different recipes affect the lava flow in their volcanoes.

Students made predictions and drew conclusions regarding their experiment results.

Very nice approach. I could see my son repeating the experiment and demonstrating us the Volcano experiment at home. Making students practically oriented towards what they listen in their class is always a good practice. I appreciate the efforts of teachers and the class. We would love to hear more about your future demonstrations.
