Gaming is part of almost all children’s lives nowadays. There are games for all interests, ranging from different categories and topics. One particular game series that has been passed down for the last decades is FIFA. FIFA is a video game situated around the sport of football. The game is considered one of the most known and played games in the whole world due to its adaptability and ability to never get old. FIFA allows people of all ages to connect online, playing with or against each other with almost all of the world’s teams. In FIFA, you can play tournaments, and futsal, follow the story mode of a football player and create your own fantasy football team.
When we first heard of the idea that the school was planning to host a FIFA tournament we immediately knew we would step up. The four of us all enjoy playing FIFA with each other and thus came to the united decision that we wanted this to become a reality. But the task at hand was not easy and required adequate planning and determination in order to be fulfilled.
We started by contacting Mr. Aeden who had initially come up with the idea. We scheduled a meeting where we could negotiate the terms of the tournament. The result of the meeting was that there would be two consoles that would simultaneously be of use. We also agreed that we would bring the games, consoles and accessories. The school would pay for the winner’s prize.
On the day of the tournament, we set up the consoles in a vacant classroom and brought a second screen down. We worked together using our collaborative skills. We also divided up shifts since it would not be possible for all of us to be stationed at the tournament at all times.
Once the event started, we called in the students who would be participating and asked them to head over to the classroom. The tournament started and positive vibes were present in the atmosphere. Everywhere you looked, students of all ages were laughing, talking and enjoying themselves. Achieving this atmosphere was the peak of the evening. The friendly environment made the night much better for the students participating and due to the caring culture, clean-up was not difficult.
Thanks to hard work on our and the school’s side, we were able to successfully host a FIFA tournament that will be talked about until the next one. Using the skills we had been taught in the IB system, we successfully hosted the tournament through challenges. It was utilizing the IB profile that gave us the positive result we were looking for. We thank all the students who participated in the tournament and hope the event was satisfying for you all.
